Abstract

The article aims to analyze and compare the trends and patterns of COVID-19 in Latin America, using robust statistical methods to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies and their impact on public health. The research focuses on the evolution of the pandemic in the region, covering a critical period from its beginning to the current date, with the purpose of identifying key lessons and effective strategies for future health crises. The study uses a quantitative methodology, based on the collection of secondary data obtained from public and reliable databases, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of different countries. Latin Americans, and other relevant data repositories. Descriptive and inferential techniques, as well as time series and comparative analyzes between countries, are used to identify significant differences in responses to the pandemic and its outcomes. Special attention is paid to ensuring that statistical methods are appropriate for the types of data collected and the objectives of the study, following a strict ethical protocol. The main results of the study highlight the importance of early and consistent intervention strategies, as well as the need to address socioeconomic inequalities to improve the response to future health crises. The effectiveness of early implementation of measures such as confinement, contact tracing and mass testing is highlighted as a determining factor in containing the virus. Consistency in the application and communication of public health measures is also shown to be a crucial element. These findings provide a detailed understanding of the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America, with significant implications for public health in the region. In relation to the study, its contribution to scientific knowledge on the management of the pandemic in a Latin American context is highlighted, as well as its potential to inform political decisions and public health strategies in the region.
